Hello,
ATS is excited to announce the release of our Products Index module for ClickCartPro 5.1. After receiving multiple requests to develop a site index or product index, we took the two most popular and put them together into one module. It displays these two types of products index page:
1) A tree-style list of categories, sub-categories (or sub-sub-categories etc), and the products they contain. This is like a site index of all category and product pages.
2) An alphabetical index of products by first letter. You can set it up to have all products on one A-Z page, or you can split it up however you want. For example you can have one page for A - N, and another for O - Z, or you can have one page for each letter - it's flexible.
You can use one or both of these indexes just by adding a link or links in your site layout.
If you have already installed the the ATS Products Index module will automatically detect that and use search-engine friendly URLs for the links to the products index page(s) and use search-engine friendly URLs for all the links on those pages to your product pages.
This type of index is good practice for SEO (in their webmaster guidelines Google recommends including a site index). And probably more importantly, if your store has a large catalog, a products index can make it a lot easier for your customers to locate the products they want to buy. Those who have already installed the products index module have been surprised and impressed by how many clicks it saves their customers.
For more information or to purchase this module visit . The module can be downloaded immediately after purchasing it. It comes with a simple self-serve install script (does not overwrite any files so existing mods won't be harmed), and full-service support from ATS.
Thanks to all of you in the CCP community for your enthusiastic acceptance of ATS and our mods into your CCP-based e-commerce sites and businesses. It continues to be a great experience working with you all.
Thanks!
Mark

It sounds great but would it be possible to see a URL example of your new creation ?

Sure, just visit the link given above for more information. There's a link to an actual site that's using the products index module so you can see it in action.

This is exacly what I was working on right now. However, I see you have used the ReWriteRule to run this MOD. Am I right ?

Hi Scoutch,
The ATS products index module has two modes:
1) Normal Mode
This does not involve any rewrite rules, and uses normal CCP links.
2) SEO Mode
In this mode search-engine friendly links are used to the index pages and on the index pages to the products and categories. The products index module automatically goes into SEO mode when it detects that the ATS SEO module for CCP is installed (the ATS SEO mode makes search-engine friendly links possible). In SEO mode a RewriteRule is involved.
Normal mode will run on any web server that is running CCP. SEO mode will run any on web server that is running CCP with the ATS SEO module installed. In other words, the products index module will work with any CCP site and will automatically detect what mode to work in, so there are no concerns about compatibility or configuration.
You are correct that the example install site listed on my web page is using the ATS SEO module and therefore you see search-engine friendly links on that example site.

According to your details, mySQL would probably be required to implement this feature. Is it the case ?

Hi Scoutch,
No, MySQL is not needed. The products index module will run on any site that is running ClickCartPro (including your site) and it will work fine with any database supported by ClickCartPro. There are no additional system requirements or configuration requirements.

There are no additional system requirements or configuration requirements.
Will it run on Windows 2000 Server or it is still a feature for Linux ?
Offline
Hi Scoutch,
Yes, it will run on Windows 2000. If your server is running ClickCartPro, it will run this mod. No exclusions, no exceptions. If you have further questions about this please email them to me so we don't clutter this thread.
Thanks,
Mark

That's what I thought.
Will do.

Hi Mark,
I purchased and installed...love it!
I found a minor error however.
It shows:
A to G | H to N | M to R | S to Z
This SHOULD be:
A to G | H to M | N to R | S to Z
I fixed it in mine, but you may want to adjust that to prevent a lot of "how do i" emails.

You have a new Site Element called 'Products Index A-Z Header' (ste_index_azhead.) Changing the letter range for those in the URL and display works fine.
And yes, this mod is a great piece of work!

cool mod mark. congratulation!
would it be possible to turn off the a-z bar that appears on th top of every page. it helps in the cat list (left bar) but i find it to be confusing at the top of every page.

If Mark has not added a Yes / No option in the admin section to read in the settings.csv file, you would simply need to eliminate the :
line in the routine (no need to eliminate the whole paragraph for a simple alphabetic bar).
That should do it.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the feedback.
Big Dave, regarding the M <-> N mixup, thanks for pointing that out. I've corrected it in the distribution so it won't trouble others who download it.
Aircut, regarding the A-Z Header on every page, that is actually not a standard part of the mod, but something that the owner of the example site added to his layout himself. I agree that in most cases having that on top of the page would probably be too much.
If anyone who has installed the products index module has a more standard installation of it and wants to email me I'll be glad to list your site as an example.
Thanks!

The Index Module is great! I had it purchased, installed and linked in less than 30 minutes. And, I am severely script challenged at best. If you can ftp, copy/paste you have the skills needed to install it.

Thanks to all who ordered and installed this mod so far. We're getting some good feedback about the self-serve install process and the search engines liking the index page. Much appreciated. -Mark

We want a shopping cart set up that is robust and dependable. We want it to run on MYSQL not CSV files. We want the modules for search engine and Products index and Frugal if it does not slow down the site. We want it to look just like the . We can use the exact products and images from the site. We have a deal with the ASC to sell their products and permission to use the images.
If you can set up the basics to work like theirs with a template we can fill in the rest. We need credit card processing set up to work with our chase merchant account and shipping options for fed ex, ups, and USPS. We have a verisign certificate secure server set up. We have red hat Linux. We are hoping to make money with the store. We have been going in debt though for the last few months. When can you do this and what will it cost with everything?

I must admit. It's a very nice layout they got there.
As for the rest of your request, CCP pretty much has these features except for the SEO Module and Indexing Module. All additional codings (massive and specialized) can be posted to ATS by e-mail as a custom job request.

i noticed that on your sample site the Product Index's categories come up alphabetically rather than in the order the product categories are listed in the CCP Product Index...
is there a way to have the order of product categories displayed in your Products Index match the order of the product categories displayed on the CCP Product Index?
Offline
Hi Kaz,
Sure, I could tweak your install to list the categories in their "natural" order rather than alphabetically. Once you have the module installed I'd be happy to do that at no charge.

I would also like to know how to make this change on my site.
Thank you.
BTW: Mark, have you got my emails?

Once again, Mark has impressed me with stellar support. I have an unusual site that presented some special challenges, but Mark quickly made several custom alterations at no charge.
Buy this mod, it's great (especially if you have a large site with many items).
Check out this version (categories in site order rather than alphabetical) at

Hi All,
I'm getting the impression that natural order will be more popular that alphabetical for the tree-style listing produced by the products index module. Here's a very quick hack to implement that:
Change this line near the top of ste_index.pl from:
my $SQL = "select category_id,category_name,category_xcat from category where category_splashdisp='Y' order by category_name";
to:
my $SQL = "select category_id,category_name,category_xcat from category where category_splashdisp='Y'";
BigDave, yes I got your emails and I'll respond as soon as I can.
