PayPal Commerce Platform - Cardholders Name
Is there a possibility to add a field for Paypal Credit / Debit card Payment as I am assuming its currently taking the name from the Billing Details field.
I just feel it would be useful to add this as an extra field
So it would be in this order:
Card Number
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Name on card
Mr Smith
Expiry Date Security Code
01/25 123

The proper place to enter the name for the payment card/info is in the billing information section of checkout. The cardholder name should be the billing name. If the item is shipping elsewhere, use a different shipping address.

So, I would need to instruct people to make sure its their cardholders name put in the First Name and Surname billing fields and not their usual common name, as its very rare for the Cardholder Name on a debit/credit card to be the same as someone's actual name
Eg:
Cardholder name: Mr A Smith
Actual Name: Andrew Smith
As this may get rejected as not matching the cardholders name

I don't know of any system that compares and/or rejects cardholder name when validating payment information. AVS is used to compare addresses, and of course the CVV and card number are validated - but not names. Plus it's standard practice / knowledge that your billing name be what's tied to your payment info (as that's your billing info). The bottom line is that I don't think you have anything to be concerned with here.
