Anthony:
Create account: USERNAME... can I just quickly check that I can safely remove the "username" fields on the create account page, and that the software does not check that this has to be filled out, I removed this in V8 and pretty sure no other modifications were needed, but wanted to check.
Thanks in advance
Frank:
If you modified it in V8 you'll know there's quite a bit more to it than removing the field as it is referenced by the software in some capacity,. However, we would strongly recommend not removing it.
Anthony:
Frank, thanks.... sorry... can't live with usernames on a website... makes the checkout too long, but found all the references in the code and seems to all be working fine...
Evan:
Anthony, I agree with Frank Stanley you shouldn’t remove usernames as a requirement if for no other reason but PCI security compliance that could make your website and order management system vulnerable without that extra login requirement.
Nick:
Just be careful with this mod. You need to ensure that you set unique usernames for all users regardless of whether or not they are choosing them, or your are.
Nick, just to clarify this please.... I have altered the php file to no longer check.fir usernames and the filed is now hidden, I have tested this many times and I don't see any issues.... I know around the world usernames are used, however it would seem in the uk its used a lot less frequently and it makes the checkout etc that little bit quicker for everyone.
But if you think this will cause serious issues I would reconsider using, but as with K8... it ran very smoothly
