Although V9 is now out of beta, it is in early release so some things may change.
V9 has a wide range of options that the big boys offer.
Multisite
MAP Pricing
Point Of Sale
Drop Ship when out of stock
Barcode item support with warehouse location
Local pick up offer option
Manufacturer Information
Estimated delivery time based on shipping option & local time shipping cutoff
Package deals
Special offers
Stronger wholesale support- including base and premium discounts
Category feature grid
Vendor support including cost of item
Special banners for special offers and manufacturers
Promotional items for 'shoppers with cookie' & 'customers belonging to a certain user group'
Free product giveaway (up to 7 levels) based on purchase amount
Instant rebates
Much, much more
I'm trying to post as much as I can as quickly as I can. But there is a lot going on in the back end and under the hood.
Even though V9 offers a great many options like the more popular carts (actually V9 has a lot more features than any one), it is streamlined with great consideration to load times. Many of the users of other mega-featured cart programs complain about the bloated code and need for powerful servers.
It is clear that V9 gives heavy consideration to minimizing server calls and pleasing the Google Gods.
What I'm showing here is just the basic cart. There are some AWESOME Mods coming in the next few weeks.

The nice thing is that you can start to type a return customer email address, then select and it will populate the billing address.
As you can see there is a simple price override. Further down there is a positive and negative price detailed price adjustment. This is really great for discounting open box units or adding labor charges. Under Order Totals, it will use the comment and price adjust automatically.
I haven't added my credit card processor information yet so the only choice is pay by telephone.

Support for MAP pricing, and -get this- ship from your location until you run out and then automatically sends orders to dropshipper!!! Perpetual inventory! ANOTHER real cool unannounced feature!

Thanks for the postings. I should really have been doing this all along, but time is money and I have neither at the moment There are promos for free item giveaways at certain price points globally, and if you look in manufacturers, you can see them there too. You can also set up promos to give out auto gift certs, etc at will. There's a lot in there promo-wise.
And as I said, I've only mentioned high level stuff. There's a few hundred new things in there like that video link you pointed out that are so basic in comparison to everything else that's been done, I tend to glaze over them. Thanks for pointing some of the smaller stuff out. I think between what's been published as new features already and this thread, most people have seen at least half of what's new.
One thing that I think is really cool with the POS is that it's built in the responsive management interface, so you could ring a customer order on your phone or tablet with ease. I have a few people I know who want to ring orders while on their morning train commute.
Coding XMODs currently...

How the Big Boys get around MAP- Now you can too!
That isn't even the big news. Inventory Item(s) * can a drop down list of items. Say different colors or sizes at a different price each (retail & wholesale)
Then add-ons are easily added.
Awesome -opossum.

Just figured out how to do YouTube inline video.

This will loop the same video. I found all the parameters here:

Take beating MAP to a whole new level. Instant rebates. Price in the cart is MAP compliant. BUT! You can always give instant cash back!
V9 has sooo many creative ways of offering discounts and specials.

No, keep stuff coming. I appreciate it. It's nice to see the screenshots coming and what you're seeing as positives with the new software. Shot 2 in post #12 is also showing shipping delivery estimates for FedEx (also works for UPS), which I think is cool. The MAP stuff is nice. Consider package deals as a good way to avoid MAP as well (give away a free item with a MAP item).

Hi
I have noticed on the create customer account on the pos it is asking for a customer user name and password, when we take orders in the shop we just ask for name, email address contact number. is it possible to change these options as the screen shot show the username & password * as required on the form.
Thanks

The decision was made to make the POS use customer accounts to allow for quick reorders, etc. The process is to set the customer account up for the customer, and if you feel like it, tell them the password you issued them. Otherwise, it's not pertinent, you just pick a password and handle the sale.

Hi
The system we use at the moment just has a tick box to send welcome email which contains an auto generated user name and password, just removes the extra steps, but we can work with it either way.
Thanks
