CRON file setup

Where can I find the exact details on setting up the cron file definitions?   I use Cpanel under hostgator.com.   What exactly goes into the Cron file entries?  I can't seem to locate where the details are defined in the documentation.   The Cron file is talked about in the documentation, but the specifics are not shown.   Are these entries even needed anymore?   I am on the current updated version of CCP 8.09 I think.

Re: CRON file setup

Versions 8 and lower fire cron automatically as pages are viewed.  There is no way/need to fire cron using an external shell script or session cron.  Version 9 (coming soon) has the option to fire cron via a shell script due to the need for cron to fire at specific times (and more often) under certain V9 setups.

Re: CRON file setup

What are the entries that have to be set up in the chron file.  I had to delete the entries in the cron file.   I need to know what the CCP entries are in the CRON file.  The documentation talks about it, but it doesn't show the syntax of what has to be set up.

Re: CRON file setup

Are you saying that there is no need to even set up CRON file entries on behalf of CCP V 8?   If that is true, why does the documentation talk about CRON file set up?   How can CCP "fire cron" without having any definition in the CRON?   This doesn't make any sense.

Yes, exactly.

If that is true, why does the documentation talk about CRON file set up?

Not sure.  Jeff writes the manuals.  Can you point me to a doc/page where this is referenced?  Shouldn't be in there.

How can CCP "fire cron" without having any definition in the CRON?

Versions 8 and lower fire cron automatically as pages are viewed.

Re: CRON file setup

Nick, do a search on "CRON" in all three pdf files and you will find all kinds of references to CRON set up, but no details.

Re: CRON file setup

The Getting Started Guide and Installation Guide don't appear under software docs.   Something called a User Guide appears three times under software docs.   The links you show above work, but evidently all I am seeing is the User Guide displayed three times in each of the three sections under https://central.kryptronic.com/public/docs/ .   Where do I find the Getting Started Guide and the Installation Guide?   There's no link under software docs for those two files.

Re: CRON file setup

If I put in "https://central.kryptronic.com/public/docs/" there are all kinds of documents I have never seen before.    There doesn't seem to be a link to those documents where they all come up under System Dashboard > System.   Is there another path in CCP to all those documents?   If not, then this must not be set up properly to show all the documents listed under https://central.kryptronic.com/public/docs/ .

Re: CRON file setup

All current docs are linked to here:

https://kryptronic.com/Software-Documentation

The docs at the URL you referenced go back years.
