Sudden VAT Problem

A problem has developed. It only appears to affect one product, which I have deleted and re-created from new along with the category it is in.

I have had to set it to Tax exempt as a work around until it is fixed.

With VAT set correctly the product displays with VAT showing. Add it to the cart and view the cart and VAT stil shows correclty. Go to checkout and VAT is removed. The users billing country is United Kingdom.

Any other items in the cart have the correct VAT, even at checkout.

Any ideas? No hair left!!!

Re: Sudden VAT Problem

After a bit more digging it seems that this occurs only for newly registered users. Still only this product.

There are no apparent corrupt values in the tables for either users or products.

Re: Sudden VAT Problem

Interesting.  You don't by chance have the disability or digital boxes checked for it, do you?  Is the proper tax rate selected for it?

Re: Sudden VAT Problem

No, set to Standard on all Tax boxes (well Tax exempt at the moment until fixed). I have even cloned a working product and still the same issue. Other new items work fine.

It is just the combination of new user and the single product. I can't  replicate it on any other product. I have tried setting new users to a higher than basic account.

Stumped.

Re: Sudden VAT Problem

I've located the conditions that are causing this problem. The affected item was one of very few that are not shipped and attract VAT. As a workaround I have set the item to Product Based Shipping and set a nil charge.

It would still be good to have the coding bug identified and fixed. Do you still want me to raise a Ticket?
