Category Tables, Product Tables, Product Options & Selection Tables

Is it possible to delete certain, categories, products etc, without having to export the tables, edit the tables and then re-import the tables?

Yes, any of those may be manipulated, including deleted, through the admin interface.

Hi Dave

But doing it through admin, means individually? or can you delete a group of items or a selection of items?

If you use phpmyadmin you can tick the categories/products you want to delete and then select the delete option.

Either as zanart posted or export your categories to a csv file, edit the export in a program like Excel and delete the categories you don't wnat, then you would have to delete the containts of the categories database in admin thru a raw sql statement (DELETE FROM ecom_cat) and then import your corrected csv file back into the database.

HOUSEKEEPING
If you do that with categories, then the products table will still have the category in the database.
Best via Admin or run a replace query to remove the xcat in the product table.
Yes, you need to know mysql commands to understand this.

You didn't say you wanted to do groups of items. Yes, using the admin interface it is one at a time.
