Firefox Not Working on Backend

Firefox works intermittently with the side options like in the products or category menu.   Chrome and IE9 work fine all the time.  GRRRR!

I'm running the latest version.  I've tried clearing the cache and going back in.   When it stops working it stops working.  Here's the other kicker.  It might stop working in Firefox for Lawn-Gardening-Tools.com, but then I can go to peasheller.net and it works fine for a while.  GRRRRR!

I haven't been able to figure out why or when it will stop working and when or why it will begin working again.  GRRRR!

Any ideas?

Re: Firefox Not Working on Backend

The latest and greatest FireFox, huh?  Maybe you need to reboot your machine.  Windows is flaky and sometimes needs a reboot.  90% of the testing I did was with FireFox 14.0.1 (which is the latest, I think).  I've had no problems, and no other issue reports from users who are using FireFox.  If the problem is not Windows, maybe your FireFox install is corrupted.

Re: Firefox Not Working on Backend

I also experienced a small problem with Firefox.  The menu bar for the categories was stacked along the top, left side of the browser window.  The store expanded to 100% of the window. It looked pretty ugly.  I thought maybe someone was playing with the skin and messed up the appearance of the demo store.  But after a couple of days it was still looking bad.  I deleted my Krytronic cookie and restarted Firefox.  Everything as been normal with the demo store since then. I should have taken a screen shot and saved it for you which I will do if it happens again.

Re: Firefox Not Working on Backend

I am using FireFox 16.0 and Windows 7 and I can't get it to work with the Back End Advanced Interface (standard interface is fine). As you can see from the screenshot I get the left hand menu but no content. It works fine with IE, Chrome and Opera, and also on machines running Windows Vista/Firefox. Is this a copmpatability problem with Europacart/Windows 7/Firefox 16.0? If not, can someone give some pointers to the correct firefox settings.

Re: Firefox Not Working on Backend

Hi Nigel.  The software is working great on all versions of FireFox I've tested with, and it's been tested on Windows XP and Windows 7.  I'm currently running FireFox 15.0.1 without any issues.  I would imagine you've got a corrupted FireFox install and would recommend reinstalling it.  There isn't anything wrong with the software - all browser related issues reported to day (with the exception of an ajax issue with MSIE7) have been user-config-related.

Re: Firefox Not Working on Backend

I have this 'problem' with firefox.

Just hold down the ctrl button and roll the scroll button on your mouse - then it will appear.

Not sure why you need to do this but it solves the problem everytime.

Thanks
Rob

That is weird.  What size displays are you guys using?  Give me your monitor resolution.  Thanks.

Re: Firefox Not Working on Backend

I am on a 15" laptop. I had my screen resolution set to 1366 x 768 (which is recommended) and the Advanced Interface does not display. If I change to 1360 x 768 it displays fine.

Re: Firefox Not Working on Backend

Thanks for the info.  I'm going to play around with my res and see if we might have a margin issue with FireFox on the windows.  I put very little padding in there so it's pretty tight to get the maximum real estate on those windows, but might need to trim them down a hair.

Re: Firefox Not Working on Backend

Oh, I complain and it's 'Shut up and eat your porridge.'  Other people jump in and it's 'Oh!  I guess it really is poop-soup.'

FYI
I have a 4 monitor configuration of 1920X1080 each.

The weird thing for me is that after about a week it started working on all the sites.  I figure it had something to do with a cookie around installation time?  Maybe not.

Re: Firefox Not Working on Backend

We've just released a change to the 8.0.2 update which combats this screen resolution issue for the advanced management interface windows.  The windows are now 10px shorter and 2% thinner.  A small change, but it should combat this issue for those of you with non-standard screen resolutions.

If you have already applied the 8.0.2 update, just run your installer again and choose to update both your core modules and components, then do a database reload with recently changed files only.  Also, follow the second instruction here:

https://central.kryptronic.com/public/n … ANUAL.html

If you haven't yet updated to 8.0.2, do so by following these instructions:

https://central.kryptronic.com/public/n … 2012A.html

Re: Firefox Not Working on Backend

Same issues here - consistently from several machines including my main machine - HP laptop at 1366x768. And it's not our ccp installation because the Kryptronic demo site acts the same way.

And yes, Control - Scroll fixes it temporarily.

Re: Firefox Not Working on Backend

Please confirm you're using version 8.0.4.  Modifications were made in versions 8.0.2 and 8.0.4 to decrease the window size in admin to combat these issues on some window resolutions.

Re: Firefox Not Working on Backend

I assume you meant 8.0.4 - and no I wasn't - was on 8.0.3. Just upgraded to 8.0.4 and looks like all is working here now. Thanks.

Re: Firefox Not Working on Backend

Can you guys ensure that you either have fresh installs of 8.0.4, or if you have recently updated to 8.0.4, that you have followed all update items.  Specifically the first item here:

https://central.kryptronic.com/public/n … ANUAL.html

Everything updated here, still no fix, however I may have found something in IE at least, the problem seems to be related to toolbars. More than one toolbar on the browser and the problem exists ... close the toolbars and the backend works fine.

Re: Firefox Not Working on Backend

Are the toolbars in IE sitting in what the JavaScript engine would think is the window itself, rather than the browser's toolbar area?
