Volume Pricing

I compared the V7 product table to the V8 product table and did not see a column for the Volume Pricing text (voltext).  Where is the Volume Price text stored?

Re: Volume Pricing

The voltext is gone in V8 as the software automatically does the display for you now by building out a nice table in the price display for it.  That means less work for you when setting up volume pricing as all you need to do is set the volprice field up.

Re: Volume Pricing

Nick,

That's great.  I did not expect it in V8.  I've been building that table in Excel using the concatenate function and pasting it back in my ecom.prod csv table for a few years.  But I noticed at the demo store you append the word "Each" to the the price.  I support a store that sells logo golf balls which I think your very familiar with.  We need the word "Dozen" appended to the price.  How can that happen?  Maybe in version 9, you can add a "Unit of Measure" column to the ecom.prod table and use that in place of the word "Each".

Re: Volume Pricing

Under:

Store > Component > Settings > Language Strings

Change the string used for 'VOLPRICEEACH'.

Re: Volume Pricing

That still doesn't work because some golf balls are sold in 15 packs, some in 1/2 dozen packs and some in 2 ball boxes.  Caps, shirts and umbrellas could use the word "each" although right now I use the words "caps", "shirts" and "umbrellas" because I have a "Unit of Measure" column in the product table.  It's not a big deal because we won't go to V8 for at least six months to a year.  I'm sure a lot of the customization that you did for us will have to be redone in V8.  I'll submit a request for pricing in a few months after things settle down a bit.  I still really like the way you built the Volume Price text table for us.  Every product we offer uses volume based pricing.  It will save a lot of work.

Re: Volume Pricing

Some of those customizations will need to be redone.  Many of them will be easier to do with the new platform.

Re: Volume Pricing

Since it is created automatically, you should update your manual to remove the following regarding Volume Pricing text.

Important Note: Make sure you have Volume Pricing selected above. Remember, you also
need to fill in the next space, which is an html description of the pricing you’ve displayed. This
doesn’t have to be anything fancy. We’ll show you how in the example.
Volume Price XHTML Description
This is the volume pricing XHTML description for the volume pricing schema above. This XHTML
description is used for the 'Volume Based' pricing type. This description should be written in
standards compliant XHTML. This is what is shown to the customer to explain the schema above.
You can enter either literal prices here, or enter prices wrapped in 'price' XML tags to use the
currency conversion system. Example: <price>100.00</price>. Follow these exact guidelines
or your pricing will only show as 0.00.
Your HTML code would look like this:
<p>For one unit, the price would be <price>14.00</price>, 2-5 units would be
<price>12.00</price> and 6-9999 units would be <price>10.00</price></p>
We use the <price> identifier in the HTML code so that if something other than US dollars are
used, it is automatically converted.
