Hi any help would be greatly appreciated :-)
I have uploaded a new custom skin to the webspace and have changed the backend settings to reflect the changes
System Dashboard > Store > Component > Profile
System Dashboard > Website > Component > Profile
System Dashboard > System > Component > Profile
I also changed the global setting but when i look at the website the design stil shows the default installation skin!
Anyone have any ideas ?

Yes the new skin name is in all 3 drop downs on each of the above, each of which i selected and applied.
Logged in again and the software shows the new skin as the selected skin.
If i delete the default skin, then nothing is displayed!
Is there another setting i need to change in order to diplay the new skin ?

If you changed it in the three places then that is all you have to do. It's almost like the front end and the backend are seeing two different databases. Check your file permissions, I don't think it would make a difference by want hurt to check.
