MasterCard and Discover have new requirements, to wit:
Balance response transactions - For prepaid and gift cards, once the card has been used, the remaining account balance will be transmitted along with the authorization response. The remaining balance must be printed on the customer receipt, displayed on the Web page or point-of-sale terminal, or both.
+
Partial authorization transactions - When a customer's transaction amount exceeds the balance available on their debit, prepaid or gift card, instead of declining the transaction, a partial authorization for the amount available to the customer will be returned. This will allow the customer to pay for the remaining amount with another form of payment. This is called a split-tender transaction.
+
Authorization reversals - An authorization reversal is a real-time transaction initiated when the customer decides that they do not want to proceed with the transaction, or if the merchant cannot complete the transaction for any reason. Authorization reversals free up the customer's available balance on their debit, prepaid or gift card
Does Click Cart Pro provide an upgrade or update to their software to allow this to work? Thanks in advance!

Negative.

Do you anticipate doing so or is my shopping cart now obsolete?

I am not affiliated with Kryptronic so I have no idea what Nick may or may not be planning on doing.

You've left, Dave? You're the kingpin of the fora...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is mandatory for everyone with an on-line shopping cart that wishes to accept MasterCard and Discover, no?

I'll wager that a lot of merchants will switch to offline processing - these new rules are pretty difficult to implement and administer, from what I've seen so far.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that we have until the middle of next year to comply, is that correct?

The email I got from Authorize.net is the MasterCard's rule go into effect May 1, 2010 and Discover April 16, 2010. They did say though that Authorize.net had an agreement for June 30, 2011 for the new requirement to be put into effect.

A little breathing space, then, for some.
But I guess that makes Europacart not only non-compliant with Mastercard's rules, but non-compliant with UK VAT legislation as well (unless you hack the code).

Yes, that's the same dead line I've been told too. Am I the first to bring this up? Seems sorta late in the game to me? Needless to say, I'm a bit concerned.

Here is a link outlining all of the details:

Not getting paid for almost 6 months made it rather necessary.

Really sorry to hear that, Dave. Does that mean we'll be losing your input here? That would be a great loss indeed. I've really appreciated your help over the months.
There seems to be little real input here from Nick.
I've been in business a very long time. If I were he, I'd make some kind of announcement pretty quick, reassuring CCP users of solid support for the future. Then back it up with action, such as fixing the various issues in Europacart, which make it unusable in the UK out of the box.
I really do feel out on a limb sometimes.
My 2c worth...

As you may have noticed I haven't been very active here since early December. I only stop by when I have a moment but I no longer have the time to dig into things to look for answers to complicated or tough questions. Nick pretty much stopped posting when I assumed responsibility for the fora over a year and a half ago. He'll pop in here once in a while but I wouldn't anticipate an announcement from him. He's stretched very thing doing everything himself now.
