Extension Module SiteMap installed and setup but...

hi peps

I have just installed, or rather the script installed, Sitemaps and I have switched on. The links to the sitemap work as expected but I noticed that there is no  in the root..
Is this not created straight away?
Do I have to wait for the cron to run before it is created?
Is there a way of forcing the cron to run manually?

I know there are lots of issues floating around this forum with sitemaps but I not think this is permissions, well at least I hope not smile

Regards

Sean

Re: Extension Module SiteMap installed and setup but...

It's connected to a cron setting, you can change the last cron setting (roll it back) to force a new cron action. The cron time (last cron ran) in held in the core_settings database table, I would assume you would be looking for the ecom cron times.

Re: Extension Module SiteMap installed and setup but...

Hi John

Just tried that, I changed the value for both daily and weekly but the sitemap.xml has not been written sad

I love working with this software but it really gives me a headache sometimes yikes

Other than permission, which by the way are currently set to 755 for the route, any other ideas?

Sean

Re: Extension Module SiteMap installed and setup but...

I had problems with the same sort of action with permissions set to 755, had to change to 777 to get a file saved by a cron action.

Re: Extension Module SiteMap installed and setup but...

D'Oh! I was changing the wrong database entry!!

Just in case somebody has the same issue and wishes to force the cron to run, make sure you change core.cron_daily_last and not cms.cron_daily_last

Thanks for your help John

Re: Extension Module SiteMap installed and setup but...

I am experiencing the same issue with Europacart 7... no sitemap.xml in the root. Last daily Cron job was run just  this morning (installed sitemap xmod last night).

Tried looking for the database entries mentioned in Sean's post, but they dont exist.

Please help!.

NB a html sitemap is being created at http://www.contextinteriors.co.uk/core- … REseo.html but no sitemap.xml file.

Re: Extension Module SiteMap installed and setup but...

Hi Jonasaedin

BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT THIS PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR DATABASES, ANY MISTAKES IN HERE WILL STOP YOUR CART FROM WORKING CORRECTLY.

To find the table you need do the following:

From the system dashboard go to
Scroll down the list until you find
To the right of this click
Scroill down the list until you find , should be 11th in the list
Click
Scroll down until you find , the text box will contain a number string simular to 1265888012
Delete this number string and then  your changes.

Your cron will be forced to run again and hopefully your sitemap.xml will appear.

Re: Extension Module SiteMap installed and setup but...

OK... having issues again... my sitemap.xml file has not updated since mid february ... http://www.contextinteriors.co.uk/sitemap.xml

There has been plenty of traffic to the site and I have now deleted the value in core.cron_daily_last ... but still 3 days later, no sign of cron jobs running. In fact the value in the db is still empty.

I have updated all my products, pages and categories with HDSEO urls and this is working fine in the cart, but I need this to reflect in the sitemap.xml for it to work with google submission. The HTML sitemap is working fine: http://www.contextinteriors.co.uk/core- … REseo.html

And sitemap.xml has permissions set to 777

Suggestions?

Re: Extension Module SiteMap installed and setup but...

I have the same problem of the sitemap.xml not showing up.
I have tried sean's suggestion to no avail.

HDSEO url's are being picked up in the HTML sitemap, but I need the xml version to appear.

Re: Extension Module SiteMap installed and setup but...

I waited a day and my sitemap.xml appeared.
It has been spidered by Google and so far of 83 url's submitted, 72 are recorded as being in the Google index.
