Separating left links from category links

Hi,

If you see my front page, wwwmakesachange.co.uk, you will see that there are text links to the left and also the same text underneath the category images on the front page.

That's obviously a CCP default.  I'm trying to separate this text so that I can have descriptive text underneath the image in the middle of the front page, and simple text (eg Baby Clothes) on the left hand links to make them easier to read.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Re: Separating left links from category links

You can change how the categories and products are displayed here,

ClickCartPro GBU > Settings: Application Settings Menu > Catalog Global Displays

Find Splash Page: Category Display Type and try 'Image and Description'

If that's not the look you want you'd probably have to clone one of the fields here:

ClickCartPro GBU > Displays: Skins, Menus, XHTML Includes and Messages > Manage Catalog Category Displays: Online Store View

Hope this is of some help to you

Re: Separating left links from category links

Thank you Rob.

I'm aware of all these areas, although not that competant about doing stuff in them.  Could anyone give me an idea of what to do specifically?

Thank you!

Re: Separating left links from category links

Both use the display name for categories to build the links, to change that would take a lot of custom coding to determain what part of the site is calling for the link and at least one new field in the product database, not very easy at all.

Re: Separating left links from category links

Hi John, thanks for your reply.

Really?  That's a disappointment as I had gathered it was fairly straightforward.

Is there anyone out there interested in looking at this as a project and quoting for me?

Thanks, Emma

Re: Separating left links from category links

This may not be as hard as I once thought but you would have to create the new field in the products database to hold a new/differnet display name, and edits to the private_dir/apps/ccp0/CCP/ext/femenus.php, function menucategories.

Re: Separating left links from category links

I'm sorry John, I just don't understand this.  Is there any way you could clarify - or - could you or someone quote for doing this for me?

Thanks :-)

Re: Separating left links from category links

If you take the first category as an example, "Fairtrade & Organic Cotton Clothes, Babies to 11 Years", what text do you want to see in the menu, and which text as the description under the photo?
