Is it possible to do any of the following examples a custom sale methods
if so any starter examples would be appreciated
1.....Spend £50 claim a specific product for 50p
spend £100 claim a specific product for £1
2.... buy 1 specific product get a diiferent one for £1
(could this be done using options for the specific product - i.e is it possible for the product option to be another product or can it only be a variation of the same product.
3... buy any two products from x category and save 20% and get x product free

There are a lot of people who use custom sales methods but custom sales methods do not provide a way to accomplish what you've asked for.

Yes but it isn't pretty and ends up being "hard coded" so it isn't really easy to change.

Is this something that will be different in CCP7? I am sure there are a lot of individuals that would be interested in a "Buy X Get Y Free" sale method, especially if Y did not have to be the same product.
Dave in a previous post you stated that the reason this would not work is the sale scripts could not effect the contents of the basket. I am not sure why it would have to. You could instruct users to add the free product to the basket and the script would automatically 0 the price. Just a thought.
