1. Will it have an option in admin to assign FREE SHIPPING to a product, as opposed to just omitting shipping?

Unless I'm not understanding your question correctly you can do that with version 6 as well as version 7 by assigning a product based shipping method to a product with a price of zero and any type of description desired including Free Shipping.

Jersey_Man wrote:

2. How about an option for customer reviews, like many many other sites have?

Will not be included in version 7 but as has been discussed in other threads it's on our wish list (and if it comes to life it will be as an XMOD).

Jersey_Man wrote:

3. A compare feature?

It's been mentioned once recently and is sorta on the wish list.  It too would be an XMOD if/when it's developed.

Version 7 will be a unified version suitable for all markets.  There will no longer be a separate version for the UK/EU market.

Does that mean that the GreenBarnWeb UK version will be redundant?
Surely their customised version for the UK will be needed for UK traders?

Or will the "unified version" cater for UK VAT, UK Royal Mail despatches, UK Payment Gateways etc?

There won't be one for version 7.

Negative.

NicheDev wrote:

It does.

NicheDev wrote:

Howard will still making UK/EU specific shipping services and gateway processors available AFAIK.

Re: ClickCartPro 7 - Initial Thread From CCP6 Forum

Many thanks Dave.

So... does this sound like a plan: (I'm a relative newbie)
(My eventual domain name is currently hosted on a different server with a different cart)

Buy CCP6 now
Install it on a spare domain on the server I intend to use for the production version.
Create an index.html file with no content (so that hapless visitors can't see the CCP6 index.php) and have a robots.txt that sends the robots away.
Build the site and get familiar with CCP6.
When CCP7 is released, upgrade.
THEN install a skin of my choice.
When satisfied with the site, ask you for a change of domain name license.
Change the nameservers to the correct domain on the production server
Run the CCP7 installation prog on the production server
Copy all the files from the dev domain to the production domain (excluding the 2 config files)
(Presumably the db doesn't need amending)
Delete the robots file and the index.html
Pray
Pray some more
Then the CCP7 site goes live.

Good plan? Fire away!

Kind regards
Paul

Well you'll certainly need/want to copy the database from the development domain to the production domain also but other than that you've got it correct.

Re: ClickCartPro 7 - Initial Thread From CCP6 Forum

IF possible the calender could be used as a reservation platorm and maintain an individual product/service dutabase of available and unavailable dates.
And possibly maintain a different pricing rate based on the date. This would add hotel/resort vactions, charters, and general labor intensive service orientied customers.

Also .. what is the ETR? and if we just purchased 6.0 can we get a bump to the 7.. ?

I know .. asking for the moon.. but shoot high let gravity take care of the rest. I always say..

Re: ClickCartPro 7 - Initial Thread From CCP6 Forum

ETR? read the TOPIC, it gives a hint smile This thread also made it very clear...buy 6.0, you pay for the UPGRADE version to 7.0. It's being released on the 16th, if you buy 6.0 on the 15th, you STILL pay the upgrade cost on the 16th, so wait for it.

Re: ClickCartPro 7 - Initial Thread From CCP6 Forum

Glad to see 7 coming - I was just about to bring a site with vers 6 live i have worked on for 2 months or so. Now, i think i will wait for 7 to have the big move.
Looks like this was thought out and planned properly - I look forward to seeing it in action soon.

Will this be the case if the upgrade is purchased and not the full version?

Re: ClickCartPro 7 - Initial Thread From CCP6 Forum

The upgrade would still be the full version you are just getting a reduced price. The entire code base, structure and database names have been changed, your going to have to import information into ccp7. If you have done any mods to your ccp6 site you will have to redo them for ccp7 this is not just a few little code changes to ccp6's scripts.

Dave, will we be able to use the exact same htaccess file, since the db name isn't used...like this:

Code:

RewriteRule ^category/(.*)\.php index.php?app=ccp0&ns=catshow&ref=$1 [L,PT]

No actually the instances of ccp0 will need to become ecom.

oops, i was thinking ccp0 was the cart name, not the db name...the app= threw me off...my bad...I believe my wisdom teeth act in the opposite manner than most humans...once removed, the floodgates of knowledge will open up and wash over me...and a new beginning will appear across the horizon...blah blah blah smile

Re: ClickCartPro 7 - Initial Thread From CCP6 Forum

Looking forward to more info. No offence but some of the features that I think should come with the price of the software are going to be extra? Like Google Base, etc etc
I am tempted to pay for the upgrade, but it concerns me that I am going to have to shell out more $ to get needed features?

Or am I over reacting?

Looks fantastic, a little gutted I just got to know CCP6 and now another learning curve, but what the hell if its better!

How about Search Engine Optimisation? will this have any advances on ccp6 (even tho ccp6 is gr8 for seo) ?

Re: ClickCartPro 7 - Initial Thread From CCP6 Forum

You won't have another learning curve with version 7.  The changes aren't dramatic compared to, say, going from 5.1 to 6.  What about SEO? There's not much more than may be done if you're using the built in SEO and the HD SEO XMOD.
