Is there a maximum number of items that CCP can handle without a major slowdown in the performance of the store?
I am currently using cubecart4 but my product count has risen to 15000+ products and the administration system has become unusable. How does CCP handle this amount of products?

On the proper server with the proper database there's no theoretical upper limit other than what might be imposed by the database engine (with MySQL it would be in the millions). There's at least one person here in the fora that uses a drop shipper with some 140,000 products.

Yes, I have more than 200,000 on one site with no ccp problems - main issues are getting hosting company to let me have greater ftp timeouts - currently I can upload about 70,000 products in one go - it just takes a bit of category management and multiple uploads are quite easy

I use it for 350000 products and +/- 1450 Cat's and it works just fine.

I realize this thread is a little old but...
If you have a VPS or dedicated environment you may also setup PHP accelerators and caching. This decreases CCP's load time and increases the amount of customers you may service. Plus you may setup the database on one server and CCP on another, like we do. This increases the amount of products and clients you may service too as one server isn't doing everything.
Basically CCP can be scaled to clusters and caching so there is no limit.

Thank you Frank. It looks like you're using Joomla too so you may be interested in Version 7 when it's released.
