Save CCP 5.1 forum!

Hi,

In regards to this quote below

---quote

On Monday, June 30th 2008 the ClickCartPro 5.1 (Tiki) forums will be moving to archive status and become read only.  Kryptronic has not actively developed
the Tiki code stream for several years and there are no plans to make any changes to it.

end quote----

Are ALL 5.1 forums going to be archived?  Can you not  keep them active or make 1 small new one for the few that still hold a torch for ccp 5.1?

Its fine that Kryptronic has not actively developed the Tiki code stream for several years and there are no plans to make any changes to it.

I am happy with the way ccp 5.1 is.  Also with the world economic changes some of us don't feel the need to upgrade, can not afford or just don't want to.

I don't expect support from Kryptronic as they must give it to ccp6 and the future versions but leave a little space on here for those that have supported ccp 5 through to  6  (even thought we don't want to change to it)

Please don't cut us off

P.S Make ccp 5.1 available for sale to some of us that still want it - Please?

Re: Save CCP 5.1 forum!

Thanks Rachael,

I know we all need to move on with technology one day - but for me and you and many more - ccp5.1 works for us and there is no need to change, unless the whole on-line e-commerce changes to a new level.

I know ccp6 is a great step forward - but for me it lack the backend process i need and it would cost a lot to get that put in, to be the same as i have now.  Also mostly is the custom mod for the core of my business would need to be rebuilt (very expensive)

What i have works and does so very well - I have used ccp5.1 for over 5 years now.  (tried all the rest and now have the best) to know nothing about perl to know a basic bit to then change to php - I don't have the time or money to do that.

I couldn't agree more.  As they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Re: Save CCP 5.1 forum!

Here is another vote to save the 5.1 forum.  Based on what I read and all the problems and frustrations with 6.0 people are having with the back-end I am in no hurry to re-invent the wheel and change a successful site.

Re: Save CCP 5.1 forum!

I agree. Archiving the forums will force us to upgrade, which is an expense for us and revenue for Kryptronic and just about nothing more. Not only that, if you're going to build an open, extensible platform that encourages customization, transition to a new version is always going to be unwelcome at some level. Unless of course there are great features in the new version that everyone wants and that's why they'll upgrade but let's face it, version 6 doesn't have those.

Re: Save CCP 5.1 forum!

I agree also!  CCP 6 is not ready for the average user as it is built to be too techy and does not address the needs of the average shop owner.  Kryptronic has been very blind when it comes to the needs of the average shop owner and has made 6.0 a technical persons shop.  I have had more than half of the purchasers of 6.0 ask me for a refund once they tried using the backend, and they have gone to other scripts because of this.  I am refusing to sell 6.0 to any more of my customers because of this and am looking for a good replacement for CCP that I can feel comfortable selling.

This forum needs to be left active for those of us that are sticking with 5.1, at least until Kryptronic gets their act together and realizes who they are selling their product to!

Re: Save CCP 5.1 forum!

I agree - it's taken me 2yrs to get to grips with 5.1 (and I *love* it now!) but per-leeeese don't expect me to cope with an upgrade, I wouldn't know where to start! (And I SO need the 5.1 forum to continue...)

Take a look at PinnacleCart  http://www.pinnaclecart.com  Expensive but amazing backend.  I setup a friends site with this software plus they have a support line too..  CCP6 does what I need but if you want built in Froogle Shopzillia a Canada Post Shipping Modules.....  Then go with this..

Re: Save CCP 5.1 forum!

That does look like a nice product - thanks for the tip.  Still no ability to modify orders though (can't add/remove products) and pretty limited batch order processing functions (only changing status or deleting).  However, even though the 5.1 board is due to be archived, I think we should continue to respect the forum and restrict our conversations to CCP support related issues and not other products.  Just my $0.02 worth.

Would there be a need for CCP51 to keep going with a forum if not supported anymore?  if there is a need I bet one could start a new forum.  Lets say ccp51forums.com

Re: Save CCP 5.1 forum!

FWIW folks I have not given up the fight to keep at least this forum going for 5.1.  I agree that it needs to be here as long as there are a substanstial number of people still using 5.1 (which there are).

Re: Save CCP 5.1 forum!

Would be easy enough to start one at Yahoo forums or someplace like that, if it comes to it... as long as we can get a link to there from here so people know where to find it.  But then one really has to wonder why we should be archiving this forum if there is enough need to justify opening another one.

Re: Save CCP 5.1 forum!

I'm using 5.1 and have no plans to "upgrade" because 5.1 has been highly modified it for me and my clients. Each client has slightly different modifications, but substantial.

I looked at 6 and would have to put probably at least a full month of full-time work, 24x7, into 6 to add the enhanced features we added to 5.1 tiki. I really didn't see any need for me or my clients to upgrade. One client asked the difference but he already has the mods (e.g., SE friendly mod-rewrites) incorporated into his 5.1 tiki - and I would have to modify his 6 to bring it up to his current mod (e.g., drop-down image swap selection boxes for over 1200 options and allow APO addresses with their own APO shipping tables.).

Keep the forum. The support from partners and Kryptonic can go away.

I also would like to keep the CCP5.1 forum!  It's a valuable resource and was a key reason I purchased the software in the first place.

Re: Save CCP 5.1 forum!

I too am sticking with CCP 5.1!  Whether by choice or plain cost effectiveness!  I've invested way too much time and effort into customizing it to suit my needs - not to mention the numerous and costly mods that I've added over the last two years!

Thanks,
Christina

Re: Save CCP 5.1 forum!

I have already purchased the upgrade to CCP6 but have not upgraded yet because we simply can not give up our "Estimate Shipping" mod we purchased for use with 5.1 version.  This is the only reason we have not moved and I vote to keep the 5.1 forum active.

Hi Polarize,

Sorry to dilute this topic - but who's version of the est shipping mod do you have ATS or Muse as I have Muse and it really is not working correctly.
