major checkout error!

I had a customer purchase a rather expensive item, and after entering all of her credit card info, a CCP error page came up instead of giving her a confirmation page. Confused, she abandoned her order.

I am not sure how long after this happened, but I was shown that the order had been made and completed/paid for. Obviously the order didnt go through, however, her credit card was billed later (i'm not sure how long later, but she made it seem like at least several days). She never at any point recieved an automatic confirmation email either!?? I of course refunded her, losing a large sale, and as I am baffled about this, I have closed my online store for several weeks!

As it was a CCP error page, and the order appeared in my ccp order list, I really dont think this has anything to do with my payment terminal.

HELP!

Re: major checkout error!

That sometimes happens when the communication between the payment processor and your web host is interrupted during the transaction.  It can also occur if an error occurs during the final order updating, email sending, etc.  If it only happened the one time, I would not necessarily jump to a state of high concern.  I would recommend running a test transaction with your own card to make sure it is working ok.  You can always void the transaction at the payment processor so your card isn't charged.  If the test goes through ok and the problem doesn't seem to be recurring regularly, I would just chalk it up to "one of those things" and move on.  If you do get an error, please try to provide some more information and we'll see what we can figure out.
