Who can tell me what debugging stuff this does other than list name of author and some spec stuff? Is this neccessary for operation?
<?php /* PHP FUNCTION */
/* REQUIRED: Run the debug and closure function. */
$skinfunc->debug(); ?>
Produces:
<div class="hidden">
Software: Kryptronic Hybrid X Core (KHXC)
Copyright: 1999-2007 Kryptronic, Inc.
Author: Nick Hendler, webmaster@kryptronic.com
Exec Time: 0.245109 Seconds
Memory Usage: 3.701271 Megabytes
<a href="https://kryptronic.com/" title="Kryptronic Software">Kryptronic Software</a>
</div>
Now some concerns... If this has to be on pages I think we should be allowed to place a nofollow tag in this? We do not always want search engines leaving our site? I means of placing a nofollow tag would at least keep a search engine on our pages that we have spent so much time working on SEO.
Can this be removed??? Even though hidden it can be seen by bots thus leaving your pages..

Search Engines use what is called "Lynx" which is a text based browser. This is what they will see in all CCP60 pages as the CSS stuff means nothing and that link is at bottom.
I guess I would say I have no issues about statements like this but even though one may think it is hidden, it really isnt. Misleading
Here is a screenshot of a lynx based browser showing statement:

Do not mind copyright statement. Just do not need link.. YELLOW is Kryptonic Link

There's nothing stopping you from removing it (AFAIK).

Great Thanks.. Feel sorry for those that may not know better though... Kinda should not be a default and have it as a setting.

Why would you feel sorry for them?

In talking about SEO we site owners take some pride in what links we may or may not have on our site. Its find and dandy to place a link on your site but to see a "HIDDEN" link that is at the bottom of a page will have only one effect, bots will leave your site. I feel sorry for those that do not even look at their source code. Maybe the word "Sorry" isnt the correct word. I feel "Bad"... I fee "Sad" What would make me feel "Happy"is more knowledge for all CCP60 the better and it is good to be talking about this. I think a store owner should see all links exsting on their web site and the funny thing is if I didnt happen to be scrolling down I too would have not seen it.
People work hard on building up SEO and a link like that one does nothing to help any CCP6 owner. You want that bot to remain on a site as long as it can?
Have you ever watched the habits of a search bot? If you have ssh access to your server tail you http log file and watch. Strange little creatures..
If I place a link on my site it is usually my call. Most links on my sites also link from the site I am linking too. Thats called backlinking. CCP has done none of this for it users. I have seen no place to Link to LinuxCDShop.Ca thus giving a banklink off a PR site of 6 ( kryptronic.com is Page Rank = ) These forums are it.

Give that a click.

Now I have looked all over this page? Do you see a real link to kryptronic.com? It is in the source but I have looked all over this page. If you find it tell me. But the link can be seen in the SE browser's
Thats how backlinking works anonymously
Oh yeah, you wont find a link on that page that can be read by a normal graphical browser. kryptronic.comkryptronic.com is only seen by text based SE and text based User Browsers but I am betting not by this store owner and probably didnt even know this. I recipcal link from kryptronic.com would be nice at least would help with this guys page rank

I agree the SE bots are strange creations. The things they do sometimes are very funny when you watch them and why the world they sometimes miss a link to page that is well known yet find hidden stuff is another of life's mysteries.

Well I do know that they like simple text links and this was at bottom so it could not see anything else. I am assuming the bots place a better rating ( do not know correct terms ) on links at bottom.. Just a thought. Plus it was at end of html doc and probably a good place to exit and maybe that helps in SE.. Who knows.. Also think about how many pages out there have this link? Excellent backlinking.. I would pay good money for that,... Yes indeed.. Can I put my site in there too.. Please....

Yeah I have noticed that text in the source code although since our CCP isn't really doing the SEO work I have never bothered removing it. I have thought its nice backlinking, but common. Most programs I have used ID themselves and leave links.

ya but you could place a nofollow tag on some and they were visible

I would think that the vast majority would not be "relevant" to kryptronic -- and I know there are more than a few "ADULT" type shops running CCP too. Zero control on where their link may be -- but they control the back links closely. Some folks have their sites on a list at CCP (like finished shops as samples of live sites). I couldn't get on it with 5.1 because I sell sexy clothing.

Remove the code below from skin.php of whatever Display Skin you are using..
<?php /* PHP FUNCTION */ /* REQUIRED: Run the debug and closure function. */ $skinfunc->debug(); ?>

Thanks for your instructions, but somehow I screwed up the whole file (and didn't save a copy of the original). How would I get a new copy of the skin file?
That'll teach me to leave things alone! ;-)

Completely removing that bit of code will prevent debug to screen ever showing anything (in the FWIW department).

Thanks for hint slydog. I just take it out and if need to debug.. Put it back in.. Thats why I have a backup of original ecomm skin... Code seems to be only neccessary for debug..

I'm using the CCP E-Commerce skin. When I removed the code it caused problems so I put it back. In doing so I think I used the wrong editor and put in some unwanted formatting. Bottom line is that I need a new skin file to start over with, as trying to fix this one hasn't worked. I switched to the other e-commerce skin until I can get the original fixed.

I believe you can get a new one from the demo admin.

Thanks Mike. I'll get it restored with the copy you sent. I changed to the other skin in the meantime, and actually I think I like it better. Take a look at it - let me know what you think.
