If people are posting messages that contain negative views that is because they feel negative about something.
Good business practice would be to examine those reasons and act in a constructive manner to address them rather than express disappointment that negative views are expressed.
There is no doubt that CCP lacks good user manuals, this is clear from the sheer volume of messages on the subject and the mountain of requests for assistance on tasks that should be covered in user documantation. Why this is not recognised and remedied by the owners and coders at CCP is a question only they can answer.
As for "Checkout Without Account", it was promised but hasn't been delivered.
There is no justification for this and attempts to sidetrack the non-delivery with statements such as "do not make any business decisions or plans based on what an update may or may not contain" is a stance of monumental arrogance and short-sightedness.
I personally have not decided whether CCP is a worthwhile product or not.
It has many attractive features and appears to be a robust and efficient cart.
But, there are several worrying aspects to the way this business is run and that is holdong up my final review.
I never publish a damning report before first allowing every opportunity for a company to show it's best side and I'm willing to wait a little longer before making my final appraisal.
As final thought for this posting........ It doesn't take a genius to work out that offering a couple of thousand dollars for someone to produce a set of comprehensive operational manuals would see a queue of applicants for the job, and if CCP is a successful and stable operation that sum of money should not be a problem.

Hear!! Hear!!
To listen and learn is an asset which will prove its worth.
I, has many others would like CCP6 to succeed, but the niggly things need addressing, and been!! Shot down the other night, to find I have a fetcher that I did not know I had due to the way it was presented to me in a update, make me not want to help the developers improve this software with our valued comments.
But enough said, or I may get barred.

I agree with Magwa
This is not meant to be negative but constructive.
The search engine results I am getting with ccp are as good as it gets.
A lot of the other features are great too.
I have owned one business or another since 1974. I have always been my own boss.
In my own business I get behind and overwhelmed sometimes as it seems like Nick is, and has been.
When I get to that point, nothing seems to go right and my brain doesn't even function as well as it should.
I don't want to see ccp go down the drain because Nick gets overwhelmed.
Nick isn't there a way that you can hire some help or give a percentage to somebody to get you and us through this rough time?

Hi
I would fully agree with the written manual, but the online manual and video tutorials cover most of the CCP6 functionality.

If you want any thing added to these please let us know.

Hello
I would commend the response by GreenbarnWeb. Its good to see that someone from the team has taken the cristisms as constructive.
If you want any thing added to these please let us know.
This is the kind of attitude the clients deserve : )

Yes Thats better,
It would help if like someone has already mentioned before if on your wilki you can have some type of flow diagrams.
ie.
1) for setting up the cart with Cat / Products- add ons
1) for payment and shipping
1) for modifing skins - buttons
then
1) for Admin order proccessing shipping
1) For completing and organising other
Then If the flow diagrams link you to the parts of the wilki you required with the help pages, you would then greatly improve the CCP 6 worth. And Make a lot of programers smile

PS.
By the way howard did you get my PM last we and did you see my question about your batch mod and the extra page ![]()

Hello everyone. I am pleased to announce the pending update referenced in this forum thread will be released on Tuesday, 10/02/2007. I am currently almost finished with a complete regression test of the system and formulating update instructions.
A news article will be posted to the central server when the update is ready and will be available to read in your management interfaces when issued. The news article will contain instructions on how to apply the update. A full list of items included in the update will be posted in the news article.
I appreciate all of the comments posted in this thread concerning the update and the state of the software and Kryptronic in general. We have taken proactive steps recently in order to alleviate and offset the current workload on others. In the past six weeks:
James Rath has been appointed Kryptronic's project manager for specialized client projects and to handle the management of custom support tickets and jobs. James has been doing a fantastic job and has also coordinated the development and release of an offline processing desktop widget for CCP users to quickly decrypt card information for processing. Please stay tuned for more info on that. James can be contacted directly at james@kryptronic.com.
Dave Martin has been appointed Kryptronic's software installer, basic support contact and is also developing modules for CCP6. Dave is currently working on data importers for various carts, a Google sitemaps module, a product feed engine exporter (Shopzilla, Nextag, Google Base, etc.) and various other HOT module items. We expect a large number of modules programmed by Dave to be released in October. Dave can be contacted directly at dave@kryptronic.com.
We are currently working on a enhanced user manual and on some other software concepts for the Hybrid X Core.
We are committed to making ClickCartPro and all Kryptronic software the best it can be. As can be seen by the length of development for the current update - we will not release code until it is ready - no matter how badly the client base wants it. It is our #1 goal to deliver a secure, stable platform. We will not compromise either security or stability in an effort to release software quickly or in an incomplete or buggy manner - like so many other companies we compete with.
I am very happy with the way the update turned out. All of the items promised for this update have been implemented along with a number of other features and enhancements that have been requested by our client base or identified by Kryptronic since the last update. A full list will be published in the news article. This will be my last message until I post the release notice. I would appreciate if users could keep their feedback to a minimum until such time.
Thanks, and here is a teaser screenshot of the new management interface:
https://central.kryptronic.com/public/s … /newmi.png
A lot of time was spent on reorganizing the management interface to provide a more graphically intense design and better navigation. The new MI locks you into an application or the Hybrid X Core and does not jump back and forth between the two. A full application selector menu was added to handle jumps between apps and the core. Breadcrumb navigation was enhanced. The new MI also defaults you into your default application (in most cases ClickCartPro) and provides a single level of flyout menus (instead of 3) with the entire main menu for the app exposed in the navigation pane. It is a big improvement on the current version and I'm sure everyone will find it easier to use and navigate.

Hello Nick
You have taken an excellent step towards better management of CCP by assigning more staff.
I think , we have to see how CCP moves on from here on onwards.
Ill keep my eye on CCP : )
Thanks for the update

Will the extra modules that Dave's doing be part of the application, or will they have to be purchased separately?
I'm thinking specifically about the Google Base feed here. I bought the UK version of a module a little while back but this doesn't support the Xml version of the Google Base feed which is proving to be a real headache.

So am I right in thinking the update is released tomorrow (tuesday). What is the management console? Is it in server news in Kryptronic?
Thanks ![]()

I'd settle for a basic user's manual.

For those of us who haven't yet purchased CCP, where do we read about the upgrades?
And are the upgrades included in the application if purchased now?
Thanks for your time. I look forward to working with this software.

qmstores- The modules Dave is working on will be extensions to the program and will be for sale (not free).
greg_oz- An RSS feed is on Dave's list.
thinkmarsh- A news feed will be pushed down to your management interface (what you login to in order to manage your store - in Server News)
GoBrushless.com- You've got that - plus inline documentation in the actual program. Jeff is working on combining the two and documenting use cases. I can do without the smart a** comments, though - they're getting old.
clearwat2- Updates are released for free and published in news articles in the software management interface as well as here on the forum. This is a free update we're discussing that everyone will have immediate access to.
magwa- This update will be posted by 11:00 PM Eastern Time (US/New York). I'm getting the central server ready to deliver it currently.

Thanks for clarifying, it's not easy to keep up with what things are coming in a release and then get shifted to a module. I seem to recall that Google Checkout was earmarked at one point, early on, for this update and then got shuffled into a post-update development.

UPDATE: The build files took a little longer to compile than I anticipated. Central server updates will be published between 10 and 11 AM ET tomorrow morning (10/03) at which time the update will be made public and the new articles and forum updates will be pushed down. Everything is good to go and fully tested for launch. I will publish a full list of new features, updates, etc. at the time of launch. I appreciate everyone's patience on this update - it turned out to be quite big. I wish I could have gotten it done before midnight here.
----- All of the items promised are to be delivered:
- Checkout without an account
- Mail list for non-account holders (tied to checkout without an account)
- Enhanced management interface (designed for less technical users)
- Add-on module installer for management interface*
*Implemented as install 'new modules' only in installer.php.
- Free shipping discount code support
- URL redirection support for remote product API
- Enhanced cart checks with min/max quantity rules
----- Items that made it into the update (not previously published):
- Exponential speed increases on busy sites due to trimming the khxc_stats table more regularly
- CAPTCHA support added for the contact form and all dynamic forms (does not use GD - it uses an image library instead and allows you to use your own library)
- USPS International shipping option control
- USPS integration updated to use V3 interface - now dimensions are used in calculations for more accurate rates
- Additional namespace for mail list for non-account holders (you can subscribe outside of checkout as well)
- Free shipping discount code works not only on all items, but for designated items
- Changes to the address book to work with non-account holders and to change on-the-fly when account updates are made
- Suppression of pending payment orders in review online order listing for payment methods that support post-order processing (ie. not Check or Contact Customer)
- Flag added to allow admin to determine whether handling charges should be added to zero cost shipping methods
- Reworked skin assignments for products, dynamic forms, mail messages, applications, categories, etc. to make them more foolproof
- Enhancements to product search to allow it to pull better/more results
- Changed search forms to use GET logic to allow for back button usage
- Order processing speed increased for stores selling downloads
- Various updates to maintain standards compliance at the XHMTL Strict 1.0 level - fixed validation and added global support for WAI level 2
- Reworked mail attachment logic to provide correct mime types for common file attachments to provide better support across email clients
- Combination credit card expiration dates show dates in the future only now
- Implemented new Cybersource HOP method
- Changed PayPal methods (all of them) to use state and country abbreviations due to PayPal API changes
- Remote Add To Cart API now supports the comma as a decimal point for international customers
- Removed the language 'Add' for product options that increase price when using the Option Based pricing type
- Changed product options so they no longer prepopulate with default values
- Reworked all special product list namespaces so special product lists can more easily be called from HTML pages
- All known issues submitted to support and/or posted on the forum were corrected

Oh c'mon Nick you need thicker skin than that. Plus the documentation that exists is 90% how to integrate every possible CC processor. There's very little substance to it which is why most users considers CCP to be a DEVELOPER'S cart - not something a newb can pick up and run with without having to come to this forum and beg for help.
I also repeatedly make the "smart@ss" comments because to date they've been ignored. Ever heard the phrase "squeaky wheel gets the grease"? Don't take it personally. I just jump at the opportunity to get a stab in here and there. ![]()

Constructive critcism is usually always helpful.
Jumping at the opportunity to get a stab in here and there is so pathetic it defies description and helps no-one.
