Re: Update RELEASED: Checkout Without Account & Other Items

Kiwi,

You can add a "View Website" link yourself.  I posted a quick how-to for adding shortcuts to the backend menu here: https://forum.kryptronic.com/viewtopic.php?id=17375

Re: Update RELEASED: Checkout Without Account & Other Items

Nick,

I sympathize with your policy for not predicting specific release dates, but is it possible to at least say whether this update is weeks, months or years away?

Thanks

Re: Update RELEASED: Checkout Without Account & Other Items

The release of this mini update is much closer to weeks than months or years.

No problem.  I would rather give harder estimates, however this community tends to burn me when I don't get them right.

Oh thanks - still getting used to the new admin interface.

A "View Website" link would be nice though!

I would love a view website link in the Admin area on the update product page.

This would allow you to make a change to a product and immediately look at it without having to navigate to the product.

It would also be cool if the confirmation message after you've made a change in the admin area had a link to the page you just changed.  Again to save from having to re-navigate to that specific page again.

Hooray!  I was just talking with my client about making the no-login checkout happen for his site...  I was trying to figure out a way to modify the existing code, and it was not pretty...

thanks for your updates, nick!

Re: Update RELEASED: Checkout Without Account & Other Items

Something I think the software needs desperately is the ability to create custom invoices for a customer.  When someone calls the admin, or authorized account, should be able to add an invoice (and even modify one) to create a new invoice or add and remove items from an invoice.  Almost all major shopping carts allow the admin(s) to create custom on the fly invoices for customers.  I don't understand why CCP doesn't have this function.  That and the ability for a customer to select an unpaid invoice and pay for it at anytime.

Our company needs the create an invoice for a client account really bad though.

Re: Update RELEASED: Checkout Without Account & Other Items

I should add CCP should be allow an admin to select a client account (create one if necessary too) and then select what item(s) to add to a custom invoice then take the customers payment over the phone or whatever.  Heck when I am at seminar trying to bill people who approach our booth its a pain to have to order like I am a client.

Agreed - it would be great if CCP had a point-of-sale (POS) interface.

Re: Update RELEASED: Checkout Without Account & Other Items

Nick- In previous threads you've mentioned several times there was greater security risk by using "Checkout without an account"

Will that still be the case?

Can you let us know why you thought that so I an make an educated decision before I implement it ?

Thanks!

Re: Update RELEASED: Checkout Without Account & Other Items

The method being deployed in the update does not compromise the security of order data.  It does loosen global group-based security on the checkout and order namespaces which requires additional security within those namespaces themselves based on order variables.  Have no worries - CCP will still be as secure as ever.  The security aspect is what delayed the release of this function initially.

Re: Update RELEASED: Checkout Without Account & Other Items

Are we any close to this update? I'd LOVE to be able to offer checkout without requiring creating an account. That is a major issue with most of my clients.

Thats a real shame that its causing issues. I thought it would too, but ever since implementing the new cart 2 weeks ago, our sales have increased, and the registering an account doesn't seem to be causing an issue at all

Re: Update RELEASED: Checkout Without Account & Other Items

Update on the update:  I expect to have everything completed and published within the next two weeks.  I am working very hard to get this update out prior to the end of the month so it can be applied by our users in time for the holiday rush.  There are many more items than those listed that are to be included in the update.

No, I will not provide a list.  Think of anything extra as an early Christmas present to you from Kryptronic smile

Re: Update RELEASED: Checkout Without Account & Other Items

Any news on the update of the update of the update, !!! smile
Its not as it really matters
But there is a few things which could be better and work bit better than they do,
Especially in the Admin
Which is good for going around in circles,  with it pop out !! menus which gets annoying after a bit.  “Can these be switched off,”?
And have a admin with categories which are used together,
I find my self continually changing categories just to do a daily order routine
and then I have to check for low stock with filters which could be set up already, etc,
But not to moan,
Hopefully someone out there does a few orders per day and see’s what I am saying

Thanks In advance

Oy, they're driving me insane also.  Unfortunately there isn't much we can do (see last two posts on this thread by myself and Nick:  https://forum.kryptronic.com/viewtopic.php?id=15107)  He does promise the new admin menus won't be so annoying though.

Re: Update RELEASED: Checkout Without Account & Other Items

Hey Nick:

Just kind of wondering what is going on with the next update.

I would like to do some time budgeting for the next few weeks and I am wondering if it includes installing and testing this new upgrade.

Anything you can tell us yet?

Re: Update RELEASED: Checkout Without Account & Other Items

I don't see any place for pre-sales questions on CCP6 so I guess I'll post this here.

I'm shopping for an ecommerce solution and debating whether I should buy the software outright and run it on my own server or buy a ecommerce server based solution from one of the big mainstream ecommerce hosts.

Two of the big ones have ONE-PAGE checkout, AND they do not force customers to register. The later is a must have for me.

All the supposed "experts" in marketing say that non-registered purchasing is a must or else you will lose business from people who don't want to register.

They also say that ONE-page checkout reduces chances of abandoned carts and appears to be a lot simpler to customers. As an online customer myself, I have to say I prefer one-page checkout too.

So this is very tempting for me. But I'll hold off on purchasing something else if I know that the non-registered user option will be available soon and if there are plans for a one-page checkout option down the road.

Another concern is the speed of this software. I see they chose punbb for their forum software which I also use BECAUSE of it's speed.

The backend (admin) doesn't seem to be as user-friendly as I would hope for but maybe that's just because I'm not used to it yet. Other admin areas I've seen have been more user intuitive.

I found two other pieces of ecommerce software in the same price range, both with a choice of registration and one with one-page checkout. But I'm concerned about their speed when the server gets busy. The server offering the CCP6 hosting seemed to have run very slow to me. I don't know if it's a server problem or the code. Does anybody use this software that has say 50 - 100 sales a day that really tests the performance and can report back about it?

This shopping for ecommerce software is a real labyrinth and I hope I can get more info from anybody about my concerns above. I need to make a decision in the next couple weeks. Choosing the right product is a big deal. I've chosen the wrong product in the past too many times.

- SL

PS: Nick, you want to share your KHXC skin with the punbb community? smile

Re: Update RELEASED: Checkout Without Account & Other Items

Hi Nick and all,

Just wondering about the breadcrumb issue - I did a search, but very possibly missed it. Are there any fixes for the multiplying breadcrumbs or will there be a fix with the 2nd update coming up? I have the first upgrade already.

Breadcrumbs are vital and functional, but the way this one if working...well, it makes the cart look a little unstable.

Again, if this has been asked and answered apologies...

Thanks,
K

Re: Update RELEASED: Checkout Without Account & Other Items

So, does anyone know if this is typical behavior for Kryptonic to go silent when they're behind on a release schedule?
