Creating custom Skins

Hello

I would like to know which files do I have to edit in order to change the complete look of the site. I do not just want to change the css part.

Which files should be edited in order to have a completely different skin.

Re: Creating custom Skins

It's really too complex a subject to give an explicit explanation, the wiki does a good job of getting you started.

Best place to start is to clone the defaultor CCP Skin. Then edit that skin (skin.php) to suit your needs.
Whwn you clone the skin it will create a new directory (skin folder) and yuo can edit anything in that folder. Im going to assume that you have a good knowledge of HTML and CSS (otherwise you would not be attempting to change the skin), so once you have cloned the skin you will see that when you come to edit it (either by the admin area or by downloading and editing) that it's raw HTML and php includes/routines.

You will also need to edit the css file in order to get the look you want.

I hope this is of some help?

Thanks for the info.

Yes, i am well versed in HTML and CSS. I can also program a bit in PHP.

Actually, i had already cloned the Ecommerce Skin.

So ill begin with skins.php and all.css files.

Re: Creating custom Skins

That is right AjnabiZ, I would reccomend going through the whole checkout phase until the last page, each time you make a change. Also make backups of all the files you change (or just note which ones you changed then use the online admin demo to revert them back if need be).

Re: Creating custom Skins

Hello

I have edited all.css and the skin file.

So far it only changes the color and some cosmetic changes.

I can do a lot with the css file but the skin.php worries me. It is very limited.

I only allows you to remove the left column, right column, or move the Shopping Cart Box and Quick Search Box either into the Left Column or into the Right column.

The Content page can be removed.

But I would like to have more control and make changes to the core level. Which files should I edit.

Re: Creating custom Skins

Just poked around a bit and found the files under /khxc-private/apps/ccp0/CCP/includes/

Are the files under includes, which I have to edit in order to have more control over the changes.

I would like to change the positioning of the Product Description, product image, its price etc. A complete overhaul.

Re: Creating custom Skins

Product descrition and image changes will be done via the product detail/category product skins, best clone the default ones and edit that to suit your needs. Price displays can for the most part be customised by css, but if you don't get the results you want then edit pricedisp.php in the includes folder.

Be warned though if yo intend to hack the includes files or completely 'overhaul' the skin and software core as you said then you are playing with fire, be careful.

AjnabiZ, what's the outcome of your modifications?
Were you successful, or are you currently a patient of your local hospital burns unit?

Re: Creating custom Skins

Hello magwa

I moved on from CCP. CCP is just not to my liking considering other factors.

Re: Creating custom Skins

I have tried cs-cart, its a resource hog.

I tried Cube Cart, but its very simple cart. Not many features.

I liked Squirrel Cart, Viart and Jshop

the support of Viart and Jshop is good.

I am thinking about Viart since its skinning is extremely easy. Check its Flash Demo
http://www.viart.com/viart-html

Jshop is also easy to skin but the price tag is a bit high as compared to Viart.
