Gift Certificates

I have been trying to figure out how to get gift certificates to work properly. The idea is to have an id number for each certificate, this is flexible.

We will be selling gift certificates and we need to ensure 2 things.

1) The Gift certificate applies to shipping costs. (a must)
2) Any remaining balance not spent on a purchase will stay with that certificate (ie the id number) until it is all spent. (This is to avoid sending a check for unspent money)

Thanks

Re: Gift Certificates

We sell pre-numbered Gift Certificates through CCP and keep track of them on a separate Excel spreadsheet. When they are redeemed the customer puts the GC number in the comments field of the order form. Usually a call or email is required to coordinate the deal.

I know this doesn't answer your question, I'm just sharing how we deal with Gift Certificates in the hope that it helps.

Re: Gift Certificates

What MenFly2 is doing is probably the easiest and cheapeast work around. What you're wanting to do would be a bit of a code addition.
