I was reading instructions to install. Do we need to place the store in a directory? or Can it be uploaded to webroot without the need of a seperate directory for example webroot/khxc

Your webroot would be /
Your quote read webroot/khxc which is in fact a directory separate from the root /
You wouldn't want all related cart files in your / dir bumping elbows with other non-related files. So, yes, a directory off the root / is probably advisable.

No, you don't need a subdirectory. I'd recommend putting your private directory files somewhere else outside of your web root if you install the KHXC in the web root. Also, to install in the web root your webserver user (usually 'nobody' or your FTP account username) needs write access for the web root directory.

ya I did wromg wording.. Currently I run ccp5.1 like that in / directory. This install is for a friend and he is only going to use his site as a shopping cart so is it still ok to install in / ?? Thanks for quick reply

Yes, that should work: chmoding to 777 during the install then back to 755 afterwards. You can leave it at 755, though, if your webserver runs under your user account. Chmod is only necessary if the server runs as nobody or some other untrusted user.

Hi,
I tried to use godaddy.com but ended up cancelling because they don't offer near the support they claim. I've had no issues with 1and1.com shared hosting and they're cheaper.

Does Kryptronic have a support team to help with support on new cart instead of using this forum? I need some help and I am not getting any where with the forum. Does any one have any information on tech support or is Nick all alone on this? I hope not. Shareen sparker2@cox.net

Hi,
You need to make your directory writable. You must be on a Unix/Linux Server so the directory that you want to make writable you need to chmod 777 What FTP program do you use??

Would there be a problem if I were using FrontPage extensions also a Linux server? Godaddy claims that FrontPage is the problem and that I need to uninstall it. I think this is an issue with Godaddy and not FrontPage but I could be wrong. Shareen

Nick, I am not sure what time it was but I do not think it was midnight. I am not going to worry about the shopping cart at the moment because I just transferred my domain to 1&1 from godaddy. Hopefully they have a better Linux system that will allow me to set the permissions and password protects my directories like I need too. Thanks for all your help. Shareen
